My Story

LaSonya has worked in administrative roles for ten years in the corporate world before stepping into entrepreneurship in 1996. LaSonya worked 15 years in the Cosmetology industry, where she owned and operated Extreme Elegance Beauty Salon and Boutique, LLC., where she discovered a passion for helping and mentoring women. In addition, she founded a non-profit (501c3), Extreme Elegance Foundation, in 2005. She served the community by assisting sheltered women, special needs, disaster victims, and individuals in need with daily essentials.

In 2010, LaSonya changed the name of the non-profit to Build the House Ministries (BTHM) to focus on the mission of teaching and training women to live holistic lives through the practical application of Biblical principles. LaSonya has held numerous conferences and taught life skills integrated with Biblical principles to adult learners. Over 16 years, she has continued to operate BTHM to build God's people to live holistic lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.

LaSonya also works with Christian leaders to accelerate their leadership development and spiritual formation. She takes a coach approach to strengthen and enhance leaders' development. LaSonya coaches compassionately, leading to change, enhanced health, and well-being.

LaSonya is the wife of 28 years to Kenneth B. Clay Sr., and they are the proud parents of two sons, Kenneth B. Clay, Jr. and Kourtney L. Clay. LaSonya enjoys reading and drinking coffee.

Testimonials

Gabriela Pfau, Raleigh, NC

"When I started my first session with Mrs. Clay, I came into it lost and confused about what I wanted to do with certain aspects of my life. But through lots of probing, Mrs. Clay was able to help me understand the source of many of my anxieties. The contemplative questions she would ask me helped me to truly think and make decisions for myself, instead of relying on someone else to tell me what to do. In just a short amount of time, I was able to see positive growth in my life, and for that, I am grateful!"
